Space & placementHow much space will a home lift require?
The current brochure lists an 8.5 sq ft footprint for Duo models and a 15 sq ft footprint for Trio Alta models. The right space allowance also considers entry direction, landings, doors and the journey beyond each floor. Your written proposal confirms the exact current dimensions.
Space & placementWhere can a Stiltz home lift go?
Placement can often be considered in a room corner, beside a closet, through a stairwell opening, at a landing or in a more central location. The self-supporting rail design creates flexibility, but the structure, circulation and finish plan determine what is appropriate for a particular home.
PlanningDoes the lift need a conventional shaft or a separate machine room?
Stiltz home lifts use self-supporting dual rails and a drive system contained in the lift car, rather than a conventional masonry shaft and separate machine room. A planned aperture, electrical work and home-specific review are still part of a proper installation plan.
PlanningDoes the lift need load-bearing walls?
The rail system is designed to be self-supporting, with the lift structure supported through its rails to the floor. Every home should still be assessed for the planned opening, surrounding finishes and the work needed to make the complete route feel right.
PlanningWhat building work is required?
The usual plan includes preparing and trimming the opening between floors, along with any necessary electrical and finish work. The scope varies with the location, home construction and chosen model. Your survey and proposal should set out exactly what is included and who is responsible for each part.
PlanningHow long does installation take?
Once a site is prepared, earlier Stiltz guidance notes that equipment installation may take as little as a day for a standard application. The complete project timeline also includes planning, any permits, preparation, electrical work and restoration. We will confirm the timeline for your home before work begins.
PlanningWill I need permits or approvals?
Requirements can depend on the property, municipality, scope of building work and, where relevant, HOA or condominium rules. This should be reviewed during planning rather than assumed; the project team can explain the applicable next steps for your address.
PlanningCan the lift be removed in the future?
A home lift can be planned with future removal and finish restoration in mind. The opening can be reversed and sealed when the lift is no longer required. The restoration approach should be discussed before installation so it is clear how the home will be finished.
Safety & serviceWhat happens if the power goes out while I am in the lift?
Published Stiltz materials describe a battery-backup feature that lowers the lift to the lower level during a home power outage. Confirm the exact operation and included equipment for the model and configuration in your written proposal.
Safety & serviceWhat makes a Stiltz home lift safe?
Earlier product materials describe top and bottom obstruction sensing, a full-height light curtain on applicable configurations, hold-to-run controls, self-closing doors, weight and balance sensing, and a fall-arrest mechanism. Included safety features vary by model and configuration, so review them in the current proposal and owner information.
Safety & serviceIs a Stiltz home lift noisy?
The lift uses an electric motor drive contained within the car, rather than hydraulic or vacuum equipment. Sound in use can be affected by the model, location and home construction, so it is best discussed in the context of the room where the lift will be installed.
Safety & serviceWhat warranty is included?
Older Stiltz materials referenced a two-year parts warranty. Warranty coverage, exclusions and service terms can change, so the current written proposal and warranty documentation are the source of truth for your project.
Models & finishCan a home lift work for a wheelchair user?
The Trio is the larger, wheelchair-oriented format. A good accessibility plan looks beyond the car itself: it also checks approach space, door clearances, controls, turning room and the full path on both floors.
Models & finishCan I change the look of my home lift?
Model and finish options can help the lift sit more naturally in the room. Published materials include clear-panel Vista configurations for a lighter, more open feel. Available options and suitability should be confirmed against the current model selection.
Models & finishWhy choose a home lift instead of changing homes?
For many households, the value is in keeping favorite rooms connected and staying comfortable in a home they already love. The best decision weighs daily use, the home’s layout, future needs and the practical scope of the project—not just a specification sheet.
PlanningHow do I get advice for my home?
Start with a conversation about who will use the lift, the floors it needs to connect and what needs to feel easier day to day. The Stiltz of Florida team can then help you understand possible placement, model fit and the next planning step.
A useful note: exact configuration, included features, timing and current warranty terms are confirmed in your written proposal.
